What Sets Threadlined Presence Apart From Traditional Agencies
What Sets Threadlined Presence Apart From Traditional Agencies
If you have ever looked into hiring a marketing agency, you have probably noticed pricing can vary wildly.
Two agencies might propose websites that look similar on the surface, but one comes in at $1,500 and another at $15,000. Maintenance plans may range from $50 a month to several hundred. SEO is sometimes included, sometimes offered as a separate service, and sometimes treated as a premium add-on.
For many small businesses, this makes the process confusing before it even begins.
Over time, we have realized that much of the confusion comes down to how different companies structure their services.
Threadlined Presence was intentionally built to operate differently. The goal was never to recreate a traditional agency model. It was to offer thoughtful strategy and high-quality digital work without the layers of complexity that often come with larger firms.
Here are a few ways that approach shows up in practice.
SEO Should Not Be an Add-On
One of the most surprising things many business owners encounter is how often search engine optimization is sold as a separate service.
In some cases, a website is built first, and SEO is offered later as an upgrade.
In our opinion, that approach does not make sense.
Search visibility is not a decorative extra. It is part of how a website functions. Elements like page structure, headings, metadata, and keyword alignment influence how easily people can discover a site through search.
Those decisions happen during the build process.
Because of that, SEO foundations are included in every website we create. Page titles, meta descriptions, structural hierarchy, and basic keyword alignment are built into the process rather than layered on afterward.
There are certainly advanced SEO strategies that may come later. However, the fundamentals should never be optional.
Maintenance Should Feel Like Support, Not a Surprise Bill
Another area where pricing can become confusing is website maintenance.
Many agencies charge significant monthly fees for ongoing support, sometimes before a client fully understands what those fees include.
Our philosophy is a little different.
If we build something for you, we want you to feel confident managing it. That means providing guidance, clear structure, and a platform that is designed to be maintainable.
Routine support and small adjustments are part of working together. Larger redesigns or refresh projects may involve additional work, but basic care of a website should never feel like a hidden cost.
A digital presence should empower business owners, not make them feel dependent on an ongoing retainer simply to keep their site functioning.
You Should Own Your Content
This point is particularly important.
When Threadlined Presence creates something for a client, whether it's a website copy, graphics, blog posts, or other digital assets, the client owns that work.
Completely.
That means you are free to use it across platforms, repurpose it in the future, or take it with you if your needs change. Your website and marketing materials should remain part of your business infrastructure.
Unfortunately, not every company structures things this way. Some businesses find themselves unable to access their own website files, locked into proprietary systems, or dependent on the agency that built their site for even the smallest updates.
A business owner should never feel like their digital presence is being held hostage.
A Real Life Example & What a Website Audit Can Reveal
Recently, we conducted a website audit for a small business owner who had been feeling increasingly frustrated with the performance of their site.
The situation highlighted several challenges that many small business owners experience when working with larger scale agencies.
From the outside, the website appeared polished, but as we began reviewing the structure behind the scenes, a few issues quickly surfaced.
The site lacked several foundational SEO elements that help search engines understand and index content effectively. Basic structural pieces -- things like metadata, heading heirarchy, and keyword alignment -- had not been fully implemented.
At the same time, the client was paying a significant monthly maintenance fee. Yet those fees covered only a very limited scope of work, leaving many of the improvements the site needed outside the boundaries of the maintenance agreement.
Adding to the frustration was the structure of the original website contract. While the client could make edits to the site, full ownership of the website and its underlying assets would not transfer until the site had been fully paid off over time, a process estimated to take about two years.
None of these challenges were impossible to address, but they created a situation where the business owner felt stuck -- paying ongoing fees while still lacking some of the fundamental pieces needed to improve visibility and performance.
When business owners understand what their website is doing well, what it is missing, and how their agreements are structured, they can make informed decisions about the next steps for their digital presence.
Work like this is incredibly meaningful to us. Helping this client step back, understand what was happening behind the scenes, and begin repairing the pieces that were not working lifted a tremendous weight off their shoulders. Being able to ease that kind of frustration and work together toward a clear path forward is something we are always proud to be part of.
To be clear, audits like this are not about criticizing the original work or pointing fingers at the people involved. Most websites are built with good intentions and under specific constraints. An audit simply creates space to step back, evaluate what is working, identify what may be missing, and determine what improvements could make the biggest difference.
If that sounds familiar, you are always welcome to schedule a website audit with us. Even if you are currently working with another developer or agency, a second set of eyes can help turn uncertainty into a clear plan for moving forward.
The Model We Chose To Build
Threadlined Presence exists because many businesses fall into a gap.
On one side are DIY tools that require a lot of time and experimentation. On the other are full-service agencies that can be financially out of reach.
Our goal has always been to sit somewhere in the middle.
To offer thoughtful strategy, strong design, and clear communication without unnecessary complexity.
Some projects are simple. Others are collaborative and custom. But in every case, the goal is the same: helping businesses build a digital presence that they understand, control, and feel confident growing over time.
Because at the end of the day, your website and your marketing should work for you.
