Bernice Bethke • July 30, 2026

Hi Friends!

July has been a month of celebration, reflection, and momentum.

This month, Threadlined Presence celebrated its first anniversary. It’s hard to believe that what began as an idea has already grown into a year filled with incredible clients, significant partnerships, new opportunities, and so many lessons along the way. Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey, whether by becoming a client, referring someone our way, subscribing to this newsletter, or simply cheering us on. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Beyond the celebration, the digital landscape continues to evolve. AI is changing how people discover information, social media platforms are placing greater emphasis on original, high-quality content, and businesses have new opportunities to strengthen the way they communicate with their audiences.

This month’s updates explore what these changes mean and, more importantly, how your business can benefit from them.

You’ll also find this month’s featured blog celebrating our first year, another installment of Top Questions Answered, August’s Something to Celebrate Every Day calendar, and a look at what’s ahead as summer begins giving way to a busy fall season.

We hope you leave this newsletter with a few practical ideas, a little inspiration, and greater confidence navigating the ever-changing digital landscape.

Happy reading!

What Changed in July & How Small Businesses Can Apply It

Platforms Are Raising the Bar for AI Content

Artificial intelligence continues to reshape how businesses create content, but major social media platforms are making one thing increasingly clear: quality matters more than quantity.

Throughout July, platforms continued refining how they identify and handle AI-generated content. Efforts to reduce the visibility of repetitive, low-value, or mass-produced content have continued, while AI-generated or significantly AI-edited images and videos are becoming more transparent through platform labels.

The goal is not to discourage the use of AI, but to encourage content that is original, useful, and authentic.

AI remains a valuable tool, but it should support your expertise rather than replace it. Generic content that could have come from anyone is becoming less effective while businesses that share their own experiences, answer real customer questions, and communicate in a recognizable voice are more likely to stand out.

If you use AI-generated images or heavily edited media, be aware that some platforms may automatically identify that content with AI labels. Rather than trying to avoid those labels, focus on ensuring your content is accurate, valuable, and representative of your brand.

You can continue using AI to brainstorm ideas, organize information, draft content, or edit your work, but don’t stop there. Before publishing, add your own perspective, examples, and expertise.

Meta Continues Investing in Business Automation

Meta continues expanding automation tools that help businesses respond to inquiries, schedule appointments, and guide potential customers through the next steps with less manual effort. These updates reflect a broader trend toward reducing the number of steps between someone expressing interest and becoming a customer.

Today’s customer’s expect quick responses. If someone submits a contact form, sends a message, or request more information, delays can reduce the likelihood they’ll continue the conversation. Automation can help acknowledge inquiries, answer common questions, and keep potential customers engaged until you’re available to respond personally.

Take a few minutes to review your customer journey.

  • Does someone receive confirmation after contacting you?
  • Can they easily schedule a consultation or appointment?
  • Are common questions answered automatically?
  • Are there unnecessary steps before someone can begin working with you?

Even small improvements can create a smoother customer experience, reduce abandoned inquiries, and free up more of your time for meaningful conversations.

AI Search is Changing Website Traffic

AI-powered search continues expanding, allowing search engines to answer many questions directly within search results before users visit a website. As a result, some businesses are noticing changes in their website traffic, even when their content is still appearing prominently in search.

A decline in website clicks doesn’t automatically mean your SEO is getting worse. In many cases, people are still discovering your business, but they’re receiving basic information directly within Google’s AI-generated search results before deciding whether to click through.

This means your website has an even greater opportunity to provide the depth, expertise, and personal insight that AI summaries cannot.

If you regularly review your Google Search Console reports, you may notice:

  • Impressions remaining steady or increasing
  • Click declining slightly
  • Click-through rate (CTR) decreasing

These trends do not necessarily indicate a problem. Instead, they may reflect changing search behavior as AI-generated search experiences become more common. Rather than focusing on clicks alone, also pay attention to meaningful actions such as contact form submissions, phone calls, appointment requests, and purchases.

Create content that gives people a reason to continue beyond the search results. Share practical guidance, real examples, case studies, frequently asked questions, and insights that reflect your own experience. The goal is no longer simply to earn a click. It is to build trust and provide enough value that visitors choose to engage with your business.

Top Questions Answered:
Do I Really Need a Newsletter?

Our short answer? Yes, most small businesses should seriously consider having a recurring newsletter.

Now, will your business fail if you don’t have one? No.

One of the things we strongly believe is that there are very few digital marketing tools that every business must have. Every business is different, and we never want someone to feel pressured into investing in something simply because it’s popular or because someone told them they “need” it.

That said, most small businesses would benefit from having a newsletter.

Why wouldn’t you take advantage of opportunities that help your business stand out?

As we discussed in the digital updates section, platforms continue changing how people discover businesses online. Social media algorithms determine who sees your posts. AI-powered search is answering more questions before people ever visit a website. Competition for attention continues to grow.

A newsletter creates a direct line of communication with people who have already chosen to hear from you. There are no social media algorithms deciding whether your content appears in someone’s feed. Instead, you have an opportunity to share helpful information, answer common questions, demonstrate your expertise, and stay connected with clients, referral partners, and prospective customers.

We also always recommend publishing each newsletter on your website. Your subscribers receive it by email, but your website becomes a growing library of helpful resources that anyone can discover. New visitors can browse previous issues to learn more about your business, your approach, and the questions you regularly answer.

Newsletter articles can also appear in search results when people are looking for information related to your industry, helping new audiences discover your business. They provide fresh, relevant content for your website and create more opportunities to demonstrate your expertise over time. Rather than disappearing into an inbox after it’s read, each newsletter continues working for your business long after you press “send.”

When you think of a newsletter as both an email and a website resource, it becomes another way people can discover your business, learn from your expertise, and build confidence in working with you.

This Month's Featured Blog: Threadlined Presence Celebrates Its First Anniversary

Threadlined Presence recently celebrated its first anniversary, and what a year it has been!

From new clients and significant partnerships to websites, campaigns, speaking engagements, and countless cups of coffee, this first year has been filled with growth, learning, and incredible support from the community. Take a look back at some of the highlights, milestones, and lessons learned, along with a glimpse at what’s ahead as we begin year two.

August's Something To Celebrate Every Day Calendar

Every day gives us a reason to celebrate. Sometimes it’s a nationally recognized observance. Sometimes it’s a seasonal milestone, a local tradition, or simply an opportunity to share something positive with your audience.

That’s exactly why we created the Something to Celebrate Every Day calendar. It’s designed to help spark content ideas and make planning your social media a little easier, but it can also serve as a reminder that there is always something worth recognizing, no matter how big or small.

August include several great opportunities to connect with your audience, including Black Business Month, Happiness Happens Month, National Farmers Market Week, and National Maryland Day on August 24. As a Maryland business, we’ll certainly be celebrating alongside the many incredible residents, businesses, organizations, and communities that make our state such a wonderful place to live and work.

Whether you use the calendar to inspire your next social media post or simply enjoy discovering something new each day, we hope it brings a little extra creativity and celebration to your month.

Looking Ahead

As summer begins winding down, many businesses naturally begin shifting their attention toward the busy months ahead. Before long, calendars will begin filling with fall events, community activities, seasonal promotions, conferences, year-end planning, and preparations for 2027.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your website, launching a newsletter, refreshing your branding, planning a campaign, or improving your digital presence, now is an excellent time to begin those conversations. The strongest projects rarely come together overnight. Giving yourself time to plan, refine ideas, gather feedback, and test before launch always leads to a better final result.

As Threadlined Presence begins its second year, we’re looking forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships, supporting small businesses and organizations, sharing practical digital strategy tips, and helping make the digital landscape a little more accessible, one project at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey. We can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together in the months ahead.
